Ken Levine Says BioShock Movie "Still an Active Thing"

BioShock

Despite being placed on hold due to budget concerns, producer Gore Verbinski is still trying to get the BioShock movie made. Ken Levine, the mastermind behind the BioShock series, has also chimed in to say that the project is still being discussed, but he can't make any promises yet.

"I will say that it's still an active thing," Levine said in an interview with Washington D.C. sports station 106.7 (via Kotaku). "And it is something we are still actively talking about and actively working on. I can't tell you whether -- you know, the movie business is complicated -- I can't tell you whether it's going to happen for sure or it's not going to happen for sure. But it's something we are actively discussing, quite actively, and actively working on." So we know, if nothing else, the project is active.

Levine also commented on how the main protagonist will need more of an identity than the anonymous one of the game. "You can't really do that in a movie," he said. "That's your guy, that's the guy you are following through." He says it's important that in the movie, the character is "actually a person who is going through some sort of progression through his life."
